The wolf lived on this own
in a cold dark forest
Where the hills are silver at dawn
Wandering low, alone in his home
Slept on the silent forest floor
In his home he was alone, the forest was cold
And the spiders webs
There where noone did go, the wolf was alone
There lived in a cabin there
An old man, his son and daughter in law
With them the wolf was obsessed
They'd never have guessed
He'd lie under their shack, ear to the floor
For 'neath their home was a hole
Noone did know
And the wolf could hide
at night as they sat inside
He knew their names, the jokes that they made
It seemed they were his friends,
or so he'd pretend alone in the trees
But the wolf had never actually spoken to his friends at all
One day the wolf passed the shelter
with the dusk on the trees
When there from door
there was a call
Someone help, help me
The wolf he ran, saw the old man
Not planned, sudenly there
Where he'd never dared
But the old man was kind
He thanked the wolf, and asked him to stay a while
So the wolf did stay
Then a noise made the wolf's heart pound
Two young people came into view
The wolf leapt from his chair
His mind filled with despair
But the words that he heard seemed not to be true
Wolf, don't go
We'd like to know more about thee
Here you're at home
Don't leave
The forest is cold
We will make tea
Here you're at ease
